"Me. the Missing, and the Dead" by Jenny Valentine

This was a very interesting book. The plot was something that I did not expect. It was written from the point of view of an older teenage boy in Britain. He is living with the disappearance of his father years back. He stumbles upon the ashes of an old lady at a cab company and figures out a way to take them home with him after the lady starts to speak with him from the other side. After reading more and more into the book the pieces start to fall together as to why this dead old lady picked him to speak to. In the process he finds out more about his absent father than he expected. He also ends up finding more respect for his mother in the process. I enjoyed the plot and reading this book, but would probably would not have it in my collection. I give this book a 7 on my book scale. "Listening for Lions" by Gloria Whelan is a hit!!!!!

I absolutely loved this book. This was yet another one that I just picked up randomly in the young adult reading section of the library. Sometimes that's where I find the books that I love the most!

'Listening for Lions' is about a girl named Rachel who has grown up in Africa with her parents who run a small hospital in a very small African village. Her parents end up dying due to disease and she becomes caught up in a local wealthy families plot to use her as their victim to get more money from the grandfather of their recently passed daughter who is her own same age.

Will she escape their greedy hands and fall into more capable ones? And will she ever be able to get back the life in Africa that she grows sadder every day to have lost? This is a very charming book, especially for young girls. It is one that I would add to my collection. Hope you enjoy it! Happy reading!

"Girlwood" by Claire Dean

Love this book so far! I am about 2/3 done with the book and could not stop if I tried. It is about a pre-teen girl named Polly who's sister Bree has turned into a drug-addicted teen. They no longer have a good relationship due to this. Her older sister one night comes to her room in the middle of the night to tell her that she is going away to the forest until she can get everything to rights again. She almost thinks that this is a dream until her sister is missing from her room the next morning.

Between her missing sister, divorced parents, and her grandmother living in the woods (whom everyone in town is convinced she is a witch) she has her hands full. Oh, and did I mention that this little girl also has the power to see people's auras in the form of colors surrounding them. Even after her sister has still been missing for weeks she still believes that she is in the woods living on the land. The narrator takes you on a mystical and fun-filled journey with a group of girls to discover the truth about the whereabouts of Bree.

"The short second life of Bree Tanner" by Stephenie Meyer

This book has just recently been announced to be out soon. It is about the short life of Bree Tanner who is one of Victoria's newborns that came to defeat the Cullen's in Stephenie Meyer's third book of the Twilight trilogy Eclipse. "The Red Shoe" by Ursula Dubosarsky

This book was interesting but I would not read it again. It's a story about a little girl named Matilda and her two sisters. It is set in Australia in the mid 1950's during a very trying time in their country and their families life. Numerous bad and depressing things happen to their family and those surrounding them. It is definitely not uplifting. On my book scale I would give this one only a 3. Time to move onto the next one!
